At our company, multiple worlds come together: data collection, the design and development of both software and hardware, machine construction, robotics, and the implementation of solutions. Our focus lies in the development of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), machine construction and packaging technology, condition-based & predictive maintenance, and robotics. We make use of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and embedded equipment, among other technologies. We primarily operate in the food, infrastructure, manufacturing, and process industries.

What You’ll Do
You will develop AGV solutions for one of our clients. This involves working with both PLC technology for controlling motors/IO and C# for navigation and data decoding. You’ll work across a broad spectrum—from developing software modules that communicate with AGVs (such as a system for automatically opening doors) to researching the best (hardware) components, including testing and optimizing them.

Position 67 in the SME innovation top 100

On 29 September – the day of innovation – the Chamber of Commerce presented the SME Innovation Top 100 of 2016 and it was announced that Black Box Engineering had taken position 67. We are very proud of that.
The SME Innovation Top 100 is produced annually by the Chamber of Commerce. New specific innovations that are also applied in the field, are assessed by a jury.
The solution with which Black Box Engineering achieved the 67th position is called ODAR Rail.
   
ODAR Rail is used to perform both ad hoc and continual measurements on the rail track. These data are collected and interpreted. ODAR enables users, such as ASSET Rail, to maintain their infrastructure preventatively. If faults nevertheless occur, they can be identified immediately and a diagnosis can be made quickly and remotely. In practice, this means significant cost savings, fewer difficulties and, in addition, less track downtime.
vIn this case, ODAR is designed specifically for the rail sector, but it is also perfect for use in other sectors.

With ODAR, a number of disciplines managed by Black Box Engineering are brought together.
At the front end, Black Box Engineering ensures that the correct parameters are measured and forwarded to the back-office system. Some data are automated 24/7 and some ad hoc by technicians or operators.  

The back-office system collects and analyses all data, identifies it and makes prognoses. This way, users are aware of the history, the current situation and they know where actions will be required at a later stage.

Development of packing line with varying packaging

On behalf of Giebels Meat Products in Helmond, Black Box Engineering automated a complete packing line, on which packaging of various shapes and sizes are packed in cartons in the way requested at that point in time.An important aspect of the development of this line is the collaboration with Isotron Systems, which supplies a number of components for the packing line.
